FINALLY, I got to ride my bicycle. I did spin a little last week on Wednesday and Thursday but Sunday I got a good 50 miler with Chris Bishop. We rode out to next Sunday's race course and did about 10 laps.
I think it's going to be a very hard race, made for the strong men of the peloton. Unfortunately for me, there's no faking it on that course. After the start/finish there is a little rise then a downhill around 2 corners and onto the flat section by the lake. There will be a good crosswind coming off the lake so the racing will be in the gutter. Then, a couple of right handers into a hill. The finish straight is 1/2 mile all up hill. The steepest part is at the beginning nad then it flattens out into a gradual rise to the line. If we (Ball Watch) can control the front on the last couple of laps, Kurt or Vance will win, assuming there's not a break. I think there's going to be some devastation in the pack though, from the constant pressure of the course. It's either uphill or in the gutter from crosswinds. No place to rest. I'll be happy to finish on the lead lap, but this course is made for guys like Kurt and Vance.
