Squiggy TT
I did the Squiggy TT today. 6th place aint too bad for a sick old man. My average speed was actually slower than my 40k pace and this was only 11k. Vance was 5th place and Mondo was 9th or 10th. I was the fastest of the slowest guys as Vance was about 40 seconds faster and the winning time was a minute and a half faster. I'm glad I went and I'm glad I gave it my best. Since I'm still sick my plan was to go and take it easy and get a couple of points but,...once I got out there I gave 100%. Tomorrow is going to be really hard. The course has a long hill and no place to recover because of the wind that's going to be coming off the lake. My goal is to finish in the points. We will see.

My Head is Clearing
FINALLY, I got to ride my bicycle. I did spin a little last week on Wednesday and Thursday but Sunday I got a good 50 miler with Chris Bishop. We rode out to next Sunday's race course and did about 10 laps.
I think it's going to be a very hard race, made for the strong men of the peloton. Unfortunately for me, there's no faking it on that course. After the start/finish there is a little rise then a downhill around 2 corners and onto the flat section by the lake. There will be a good crosswind coming off the lake so the racing will be in the gutter. Then, a couple of right handers into a hill. The finish straight is 1/2 mile all up hill. The steepest part is at the beginning nad then it flattens out into a gradual rise to the line. If we (Ball Watch) can control the front on the last couple of laps, Kurt or Vance will win, assuming there's not a break. I think there's going to be some devastation in the pack though, from the constant pressure of the course. It's either uphill or in the gutter from crosswinds. No place to rest. I'll be happy to finish on the lead lap, but this course is made for guys like Kurt and Vance.

the Creeping Crud
I had planned on a good weekend of training but that was not meant to be. I've been laid up with the super bug that has struck everyone at work.
I did manage to haul the kids to their various activites on Saturday and dress out in my team uniform for pictures on Sunday morning.
Thanks to my lovely daughter Savannah for taking the pictures. Savannah also attended the criterium at Sanford last weekend. She got some pretty good pictures there too.
